T.G.I.F.

Michelle got on me today at work for not blogging much in here lately. She’s right, naturally: I have been ignoring this place, My Real Bloggie, in favor of MySpace, at least a little. Mostly ’cause I can make my pictures bigger over there (I know: weak!), but also ’cause, occasionally, I don’t mind getting some feedback on stuff I write and shoot. I mean, I am not — repeat, NOT! — a Comment Whore ... and yet ... hell, yeah, there is a bit of an exhibitionist (??) in me, sometimes.

Or somethin’.

: )

As usual, though, MySpace is being a TOTAL dick tonight, so I opted for familiar surroundings ’cause I had a few shots I wanted/needed to post. And, who knows, maybe even a few things I wanted to say. We’ll see.

; )

I keep passing a house on Maple Street that has these cool orange flowers in the yard. Every time, I keep telling myself, I should shoot some o’ those, not too long before sunset so they’ve got some backlightage going on.

Tonight was the night ... even though I was actually on the way to cover an event that I wasn’t all that excited about covering. Not because of the event itself, necessarily, but because it was a sports-related function and, well ... I really don’t do that anymore. And I miss it just enough that when I do do it, I get nostalgic and kinda sad and ... whatever.

Then it was off to the resort for the big event!

Luckily for me, though, I arrived too early. Which meant I had time to wander off to the primitive campground.

The moon is two-thirds full. Or three-quarters, perhaps.

And then there were monarchs.

So, I headed to the event, finally. Seems local basketball legends Doug Collins (he coached the Chicago Bulls for a bit) and Jerry Sloan (he coaches the Utah Jazz) were the guests of honor at a fund-raiser dinner and auction for cancer research. I strolled up to the table to snap a quick pic of Doug ’n’ Jerry ... when all of a sudden, this tall dood tells me he’ll take MY picture with them!

I was like, what the heck?

LOOK: I’m taller than Doug Collins (6-foot-6) and Jerry Sloan (6-5)! Of course, they’re sitting ... but I’m leaning! Yeah!

: )

Then, of course, I got outta there, pronto ... and I came thisclose to missing the sunset:

Whew!
