A Perfect Day

Well ... except for the outcome of the Cubs-Cardinals game. Although the Cubs did make it interesting in the 9th inning. (Actually, Cardinals reliever Jason Isringhausen was the one who made it interesting.)

Two more games to go in this series. Cubs still lead the 2005 head-to-head series 6-4.

: )

Do you see what I see?

Yeah, a hummingbird*. Actually, a couple of them were taunting me today, for a while, until I set up nearby and managed to get a few shots. (YAY!) No award-winning photos, and nothing too detailed (YET!), but at least I was able to capture them on film. Or disk. Or whatever.

: )

First things first, though: My day. A day in which I intended to sleep in ... and by “sleep in,” I’m talking about, oh, around noonish ... but no. Not in my neighborhood. Today I was awakened at 8:45 a.m. by this scrape scrape scrape sound right outside my window (or so it seemed), as a landscaper was using a shovel to clear the grass from the edges of the sidewalk in front of the business next door. Grrrrrr!

But it was OK because I was planning to get up by 10, anyway, to watch the U.S. Open. And may I just say that, so far, this has been THE BEST U.S. Open EVER, possibly because I have somehow managed to watch more of it than ever before. Which totally rocks!

Eventually, I made my way over to The Lovely’s house to grill burgers for our Labor Day lunch. Which we ate whilst watching tennis and the Cubs-Cards game on TV. After which we ran some errands.

After which I started shooting hummingbirds.

* — In case, when I am reading my journal years from now and cannot remember what I saw in this photo:

A hummingbird, of course!
