A Beautiful Night

Just stepped outside to water my flowers and purchase a bottle of water from My Own Personal Coke Machine. (On the way over, I wondered: Why can’t you buy a bottle of milk in most vending machines? ’Cause, truth be told, I was actually craving milk rather than water!) The air outside was nearly perfect: 70 degrees, low humidity, clear sky.

It felt wonderful.

My living room lights were on, and this was the view outside the window in front of my desk.

It’s not really as bright in my living room as this photo would make it appear! I think it’s just the lengthier-than-usual exposure on this ambient-light shot.

Matter o’ fact, it’s dark in here now ... ’cept for the monitor and various other bits of light from various sources. And I am listening to Annie Lennox sing “Waiting in Vain” from her Medusa CD — part of my Songs That Make Me Smile, Disc 1 mix that I finally completed, just last night.

And now Jeff Buckley is singing ...

Lonely is the room
the bed is made
the open window lets the rain in
burning in the corner
is the only one who dreams
he had you with him ...

God, this song is almost too much to listen to with knives around.

: )

OK, here’s the entire mix:

Songs That Make Me Smile, Disc 1

1. Cloudy (Simon & Garfunkel
2. Ain’t Even Done with the Night (John Mellencamp)
3. All My Little Words (Magnetic Fields)
4. War on War (Wilco)
5. Jesus, Etc. (Wilco)
6. Trapped (Bruce Springsteen)
7. Bad (U2)
8. Sweetest Thing (U2)
9. Sweet Thing (Van Morrison)
10. Beautiful Boy (John Lennon)
11. Waiting in Vain (Annie Lennox)
12. Lover, You Should’ve Come Over (Jeff Buckley)
13. Arc of a Diver (Steve Winwood)
14. Heaven (Eurogliders)
15. (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher (Jackie Wilson)
16. Magnolia Street (Catie Curtis)

I have to say, in my less-than-humble opinion, this is a really kick-ass compilation!

: )

I have a kazillion things running through my mind and can’t seem to linger on any of them for more than a few seconds at a time. Which, with me, is actually a good thing ’cause I do have that tendency to dwell. Or overthink. Or obsess, as my Tee-Hee would say ... although I’m convinced we all have something on which we obsess, at one time or another.
